Adding a tax account: tax ID number checks

When you add a tax account, Remitian checks the tax ID number format as you enter it. Errors are flagged before you save, so connections and payments are not delayed by a typo.

Numbers that are checked

  • Canada: Social Insurance Number (SIN) and Business Number (BN)
  • United States: Social Security Number (SSN), Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) and Employer Identification Number (EIN)

Add a tax account

  1. Open the client profile and select Tax accounts.
  2. Select Add tax account and choose the account type.
  3. Enter the tax ID number. If the format is not valid, a message appears under the field.
  4. Correct the number and select Save.

If a valid number is flagged

Check the number against the client's official documents. If it still does not save, contact support with the client name and account type. Do not include the full number in your message.
